My name is Mark. I have over 18 years of dedicated experience in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I have built a career grounded in passion, expertise, and personal understanding. My journey in education began soon after I qualified as a teacher, where I quickly found my calling in SEND teaching. Drawing from my early experience in music therapy, I developed a unique approach to engaging and supporting students with additional needs.
I am academically qualified to a master's level and hold several postgraduate degrees in special educational needs, dyslexia, and autism. Additionally, I have earned the prestigious National SENDCo Award, reflecting my commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in the field. This has been further strengthened with IPSA SEND law qualifications. I am also a Level 7 Assessor for exam Access Arrangements, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed in their academic pursuits.
I have served as a senior leader in both mainstream and special schools, where I have been instrumental in shaping inclusive educational practices and policies. Post teaching I have been able to use these skills to help families secure the support they need.
Beyond my professional achievements, my personal life has deeply influenced my understanding and approach to SEND. As someone with family members who have additional needs, I am acutely aware of the challenges and triumphs experienced by families of young people with SEND. This personal insight drives my dedication to creating supportive, empathetic, and effective educational environments for all students.
My career is a testament to my unwavering commitment to the SEND community, combining professional expertise with personal empathy to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people and their families.
